The McLaren Mako Pup by Alastair Gibson in collaboration with Carbon Art 45 is a high-performance sculpture that merges motorsport innovation with natural elegance. Inspired by the 2021 McLaren Formula One car, this piece embodies the speed, precision, and aerodynamic excellence of both racing engineering and the ocean’s fastest predator.
A scaled version of the original Racing Mako, the sculpture is crafted to the true birth size of a Mako shark pup, capturing its sleek lines and racing-inspired contours. Each curve reflects the dynamic energy and streamlined design reminiscent of a Formula One car at top speed.
Selected components and materials used in the sculpture are sourced from modern Grand Prix cars, embedding authentic motorsport engineering into this unique artwork. Produced in a limited edition of 25 pieces with 2 artist proofs, the McLaren Mako Pup is a rare collectible for enthusiasts of racing, art, and natural design.

Materials:
Body: Carbon fibre 2 x 2 twill 200 gsm, 2.4 mm thick, coated in McLaren Papaya orange and McLaren blue with UV resistant clear coating.
Dorsal and underside fins: Black coated 0.5 mm photo etched stainless steel.
Tail and Pectoral fins: Black coated 0.5 mm photo etched stainless steel
Exhausts: Water system PRV 75° fitting adapted to suit, vapourmat blasted and coated black.
Marking detail: Silver water transfer
Teeth: Printed chrome on black Decal.
Mounting base and rod: Mounted on a black coated wooden base with red Pirelli tyre ID logo and a gear from a modern Formula One GP car and stainless steel rod. *Mounting methods: Desk mounted.
