Four Barrel Love | Carbon Art

Four Barrel Love brings together the power of high-performance automotive engineering with the symbolism of human emotion. At the centre of the sculpture is a 4-barrel Barry Grant 650 CFM Mighty Demon competition carburettor, acting as the ultimate mechanical pump and connecting the piece directly to the world of motorsport heritage.

Linked to this iconic performance component is an anatomically inspired heart, representing the idea that while emotions are generated in the brain, they are always felt in the heart. This philosophy sits at the core of the Engineered Emotion series, where mechanical precision and human feeling merge in sculptural form.

The heart’s left and right ventricles are crafted from 2 × 2 twill carbon fibre, finished with a clear or tinted UV-resistant coating that reveals the striking weave of the material. The atriums and arteries are produced using advanced 3D printing technology and coated in a vibrant “emotion red”, reinforcing the symbolism of love, passion and vitality.

Intricate artery details incorporate titanium fuel and hydraulic fittings originally used on AMG Petronas Mercedes-Benz Grand Prix cars, adding an authentic motorsport element while blending engineered components with organic form.

The sculpture is mounted on a coated hardwood base, with drilled aluminium stays securing the carburettor and titanium hydraulic hardlines supporting the heart. The result is a bold desk-mounted artwork that celebrates both mechanical performance and the emotional forces that drive us.
