Jen Allen and Jay Fortune bring two distinct creative disciplines together in J&J.
Jen Allen is an established British artist whose distinctive wildlife and figurative paintings have been exhibited internationally and are held in private collections around the world. Jen has been commissioned by royalty and celebrities. Her work is characterised by expressive handling, sophisticated composition and a particular sensitivity to character, atmosphere and presence.
Jay Fortune is a British artist, author and former professional magician whose work spans fine art, portraiture and graphic composition. His paintings are held in private collections internationally and have been exhibited in Hollywood. His practice draws on a lifelong engagement with performance, popular culture and visual storytelling, bringing wit and a strong graphic sensibility to his work.
J&J is the meeting of these two approaches: Jen's accomplished portraiture and Jay's instinct for graphic design, visual humour and cultural reference. Together they create original paintings centred on instantly recognisable personalities and moments from popular culture.
Every J&J work is created entirely by hand, with no digital or mechanical reproduction involved. The collection is intentionally rare. Both artists maintain established individual practices, and the collaborative works are created only when their schedules allow. As a result, J&J originals are produced in very limited numbers, making each work a unique meeting of two established artistic voices.
