Where Memories Take Flight

The heartfelt final chapter in Mark Davies’ tribute to Queen Elizabeth II

At Westover Gallery, we are proud to introduce Where Memories Take Flight, the deeply moving final instalment in Mark Davies’ three-part artistic tribute to Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, featuring the nation’s favourite little bear, Paddington.

A story of love, loss, remembrance and, ultimately, hope, this poignant collection has touched the hearts of collectors across the country. Now, Mark brings the journey to a beautiful and uplifting conclusion with an artwork that reminds us that, even in our saddest moments, there is always the possibility of finding peace, comfort and happiness again.

The story began in 2022, following the sad passing of Her Late Majesty. Mark released Love Knows No Bounds, an artwork that resonated profoundly with the public and whose entire edition sold out following an extraordinary response. The emotional connection people felt with the piece has continued long after its release, with feedback from collectors demonstrating just how deeply its message was felt.

A year later, Mark returned to the story with A Letter to Her Majesty. This time, Paddington was portrayed struggling with his grief, sitting with a letter he had never had the opportunity to post. It was an intimate and deeply personal narrative, capturing the sadness of an unfinished goodbye and the words we sometimes wish we had been able to say. The artwork proved hugely popular, touching countless hearts with its tender portrayal of loss.

Now, with Where Memories Take Flight, we arrive at the final chapter.

Rather than dwelling on the sadness of saying goodbye, Mark has created a wonderfully positive scene that offers a sense of comfort, optimism and renewed hope. It is a reminder that grief is a journey, that healing takes time and that the memories we cherish can eventually bring smiles where once there were tears.

There is something incredibly reassuring about the message at the heart of this artwork. Life may bring unexpected storms, and there are times when the sadness feels overwhelming, but no storm lasts forever. Eventually, the sunshine returns, and with it comes the rainbow.

Perhaps the most beautiful lesson of all is that healing doesn't mean forgetting. It means reaching a place where we can look back on those precious memories with love, gratitude and a smile.

Through Paddington, a character so closely associated with kindness, warmth and British identity, Mark has created a fitting conclusion to a tribute that has meant so much to so many people.

At Westover Gallery, we are delighted to share this final chapter with you. Where Memories Take Flight is more than the conclusion of an artistic trilogy; it is a celebration of the enduring power of love, the importance of remembrance and the comfort that can be found in the memories we carry with us.
