Shock To The System | Richard Rowan

Shock To The System, an extraordinary piece in a limited edition format on glass by artist Richard Rowan.

Richard was spurred to capture the power of the sky after becoming inspired by his son’s fear of it. He used his signature back-to-front oil painting technique before baking the glass over a period of two weeks. The piece was then underlit to scratch out the lightning bolt and white paint was added to intensify the main strike.

Richard says: “I look to the power of our planet, the five billion Joules of energy in a light show that impresses, scares and amazes us. In one split second, the power of nature’s energy is revealed.”
