Did You Get The Joke? 

"Batman’s most famous nemesis, the Joker, is an iconic character in modern entertainment. He has a distinctive backstory, MO, and design – particularly in Heath Ledger’s Oscar-winning iteration. To capture this, I integrated his red, purple, and green colour scheme into the Hirst-inspired background dots, and created the collage out of vintage Batman comics that featured the Joker. I replicated the chalky effect of Ledger’s Joker make-up using dry gouache. The title of the work is a subtle reference to the speculation that surrounded Ledger’s subsequent death after his role as the Joker in The Dark Knight". - Chess
