Blue Heaven

Displaying a flair for art at an early age, DeRubeis pushed his way into the art world in one bold, avant-garde movement. After being an airbrush artist for a theme park, he went on to pursue his artistic education at the Pasadena Art Centre and the Associates in Art College. In order to do so, he painted custom motorcycles and started a t-shirt business

DeRubeis soon became tired of the more traditional paint-on-canvas and strived towards something new and exciting. His experience painting motorcycles lead him to begin experimenting with metal and surface alterations to create different light interactions. Coining his very own term for his unique artwork, DeRubeis called his pieces “Abstract Sensualism”, stating that it was the best way he could describe the emotions evoked:

“I favour metal because I can combine a form of sculpture as the foundation for my expression and have found a way to enhance my ability to communicate emotions more intently. All art should inspire and evoke emotion….Art should be something you can actually feel.”
