At Westover Gallery, we are proud to launch two spellbinding new releases from Mark Davies, both inspired by the magical world created by J. K. Rowling in the iconic Harry Potter series.
The first release, Expecto Patronum, transports us deep into the Forbidden Forest at a moment of rising tension. Subtle dangers gather in the shadows, while a majestic stag — Harry’s Patronus — radiates strength and protection. The symbolism aligns beautifully with themes often explored in Mark’s work: guidance through adversity, hope within darkness, and finding strength from within.
Atmospheric and immersive, the piece balances light and shadow with dramatic intensity. Shafts of warmth cut through the gloom, softening unease and offering reassurance. While not a literal retelling, it is a deeply personal and poignant interpretation — one that speaks to resilience, courage and inner protection in challenging times.
Accompanying this release is a powerful new iteration of a much-loved earlier work. In 2017, as part of the Spellboundcollection, Mark unveiled Draco Dormiens, inspired by the Hogwarts motto. Now revisited and expanded, Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus reimagines the grandeur of Hogwarts with heightened drama and atmosphere.
The imposing castle rises monumentally against a striking moonlit sky, amplifying its majesty and mystery. Darkness and vivid magic collide, with subtle details, textures and contrasts carefully refined to elevate the composition. This new version deepens the intrigue of the original while honouring its powerful impact — a piece that famously sold the moment it was unveiled.
Together, these two works celebrate the enduring magic of Hogwarts while showcasing the evolving storytelling and emotional depth that collectors have come to admire. We are thrilled to share this latest chapter and look forward to welcoming you to experience the magic for yourself.
