The sun is shining, so grab your bucket and spade and make your way down to the seaside. Westover Gallery is pleased to invite you to our forthcoming Bournemouth art exhibition with the innovative contemporary artist John D Wilson in attendance.
John D Wilson uses his trademark, playful stick figures, placing them in realistic settings. Mixing children's art, with no inhibitions, together with the carefully planned paintings of an adult, John believes that there’s an artist in each and every one of us.
The result is a joyful view on life, art and culture. Capturing the childlike joy of the summer holidays, ‘The Outing’ features the famous VW Camper Van in a seaside scene, and ‘In The Summertime’ is inspired by graffiti artist Banksy’s coastal Dismaland.
There’s another dimension to Wilson’s work. Literally. Many of John’s paintings use eye-catching 3D canvases, making the image truly pop of the wall. Where you view the 3D wall sculpture will actually alter your perspective, shifting the scene. Amazingly, he does this with no digital images or tracing, painting it all by hand. It truly has to be seen to be believed.
John, who still uses the same easel he received on Christmas day 40 years ago, will be in attendance at Westover Gallery in Bournemouth, Dorset on 11 August. Come and join us on our summer holiday and see the fabulous collection in person. No 3D glasses required!
