A word from the artist:

When I was a journalist, I wrote a piece about the homelessness problem and one of the blokes I interviewed told me about his life on the streets. He said: “Things got so bad that at one stage my interior plumbing became exterior plumbing.” There was a real look of sadness on his face as he recalled this, and I stored that away, along with his fantastic turn of phrase.
