The Tide

The Process of making the Tide was truly Magical.   It's composition is very similar to the original reference photo and Carly knew instantly that something really special could be created by translating this wonderful pose into a painting done in the unusual way that she works with paint. As this piece was started she felt that she was starting something that would be very distinctive and knew she was opening a new chapter in her practice.   A sense of clarity and purpose became prominent this is in turn permitted something authentic and organic to take place allowing the unknown elements to service onto the canvas.

There is a new balance within her work as text interweaves its way through the figure theres a real ly free looseness to parts of her work juxtaposed by precise elements and elegant detail.  A natural evolution of her work which seems to support the overall intent of creating connection with the viewer.  It constantly is a process of the development and refining and tis is the latest result in her creative process.
